Brief

For the project I had been asked to create a commercial brand for a modern styled bank, I have been given the choice to either re-design a current bank app or to create a new brand for my own banking app. The demographic aimed at for the banking app is 16-25 year olds.

Research

The first main step to this project was to go off and research into different bank brand in Northern Ireland, i went and researched Ulster bank, to see what reviews that users and customers of both brands left.
I went on to TrustPilot, which is a popular website for customer feedback and reviews, and searched up Ulster Bank to see what people thought about it. As you can see the overwhelming majority gave it only a 1 star review, with 86% doing so. Some issues people had included trouble with the online help and support, especially the AI system CORA. People think it that it would be better to talk to a real person when trying to get help and support. Other people had trouble getting through on the phone which isn’t great for a bank. Other people thought that once you got through the original setting up process it is very simple and easy to use.

Name & Values

I started off this section by looking into some brand values, and creating a good name for my brand. The name i went for was ‘Sharp Banking’. The five brand values i chose were, Accessibility, Passion, Minimal, Loyalty, Consistency. I wanted to have these values representing my brand because i wanted to have a clean and minimal style to the brand its-self with that being still consistent throughout and easily accessible.

Sketching & Development

The first big part of the development was to create a good logo which
is representative of my brand name and values, i started this process off by sketching out some ideas.
After that i started to design the actual logo for the project.

Prototype

I created an interface which was based off the revolut bank app and then began redesigning the components to use for my brand. I really liked the use of colour through out the screens and also the consistency through the screens.

Reflection

Overall i was really pleased with the final outcome of this project. This was definetly one of my favourite projects that i had worked on throughout the first year in my course and i would definetly like to work on something like this again.
